Colwood Lodge – Redevelopment
Colwood Lodge is a 4-storey 50-unit building located at 85 Belmont Road, settled directly behind the current redevelopment of the Colwood Corners property. GVHS has preliminary plans to redevelop the site into a 15-storey building with approximately 119 affordable rental units. The current building has been in operation well past its effective life, has only one elevator servicing all tenants, and is not barrier free to those in need of universally accessible lobbies, corridors, and units. The building will produce zero carbon emissions and be built to a minimum of Step 3 to the BC Energy Step Code.
We have recently discussed our vision for the site with our tenants, and are moving forward with our consultation process in informing neighbours and members of the community. We have applied to the City of Colwood for rezoning and are currently awaiting feedback on our submission.
We are meeting with the community on December 3rd, and will be going to Committee of the Whole in January 2020.
