Greater Victoria Housing Society Celebrates 65th Anniversary with Community Contest

September 8, 2021

Victoria, BC —  The Greater Victoria Housing Society is celebrating its 65th anniversary with a contest that will allow community members to share their stories of the positive impact that affordable housing provided by the Society has made over the years.

GVHS is a trusted builder and provider of affordable housing in the Greater Victoria region, and 2021 marks its 65th year of operations. It was founded in 1956 by a small group of people who had a vision of providing affordable housing for seniors. Starting with just 26 homes, GVHS now provides over 932 homes for members of our community, with plans to continue to grow.

The contest runs from August 28 to September 30, 2021. Current and former tenants, staff and board members, and neighbours and community members are encouraged to share a story through the website submission, in any format. It may be a story, a photo, a piece of art – all memories are welcome.

Entrants will be eligible to win one of fifteen $50 Buy Local gift cards.

GVHS is building on its strong foundation with organizational excellence and innovation and looking to the future with enthusiasm.
